Jensen Water Resources

Jensen Water Resources is comprised of two specialized teams: Jensen Pump Stations and Jensen Stormwater Systems.

The Jensen Pump Stations team provides high-quality pump stations for municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential applications. The Jensen Stormwater Solutions team provides products and systems for a diversity of stormwater best management practice applications.

Designing Pump Stations to be Wipes Ready (WEF eShowcase)

Our division manager (Josh Dragon, P.E.) recently had the opportunity to present an eShowcase webcast for the Water Environment Federation (WEF). The discussion focused on the affect that nondispersible wipes have on submersible sewage pump stations [...]

Highway 50 Lift Station

The Highway 50 Lift Station acts as the last line of defense for the entire city of Fernley, NV. The lift station was designed as a triplex lift station with each pump capable of handling the incomingflow, and the ability to deal with future development. The pumps are specifically sized for 1850 gpm with 95 ft of total dynamic head. The wet well is constructed of 120” diameter manhole material lined with T-Lock PVC lining system. The welding of the joints was completed by one of Jensen Precast’s certified T-Lock welders. The wet well is approximately 27 ft deep, and the bottom was constructed with a chamfered basin to reduce the amount of solids build-up. […]

Buttonwillow Lift Station

Package Sewer Submersible Lift Station This lift station was put in place to pump to the newly installed prepackaged wastewater treatment plant.  It serves as the main lift station for the entire town of Buttonwillow, CA.  Everything from town flows into this station to be treated by the wastewater treatment plant. Jensen Engineered Systems supplied all the structural, mechanical, electrical, communications, and construction for this complete turn-key submersible lift station.  The wet well is constructed out of a 96” diameter manhole material.  The wet well is lined with A-Lok Duraplate lining system that was cast into our manhole during the pouring process. The entire lift station was installed by Jensen Engineered Systems.  The heart of a lift station is always the pumps.  In this particular project, two Homa Pumps were installed.  These pumps are constructed of the highest grade material and have a long proven history.   […]

Case Study: Clark County Detention Center Clark County Detention Center (CCDC) is located in Las Vegas, NV and serves as the city jail.  A high volume of large debris in the waste water at CCDC must be macerated before being discharged into the City sewer.  A design/build project was commissioned at CCDC to replace an existing macerator/pump system which was failing. […]

Pump Control

Many control options are available to system designers these days. We will discuss soft starts, variable-frequency drives, and multiple pump systems. Soft starters, reduce the current inrush and therefore the startup torque for electric motor drives. The reduced torque and current help increase the life and reliability of the pump and motor and system components. The lower current increases the life of the motor windings. The reduced torque pulse improves the life of all of the mechanical components as well as reducing the pressure pulsation that can cause water hammer in the system. Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) The VFDs have many of the advantages of soft starters but add the ability to control the motor speed by varying the drive output frequency to the motor. […]
